The village is found in the Santa Catalina Department. This area is part of the Puna region. The Puna is a high, dry plateau in the Andes mountains. El Angosto is also very close to the border with Bolivia.
Rivers and Borders
The border with Bolivia is marked by the San Juan del Oro River. This river is part of the Río de la Plata Basin. A small creek next to El Angosto flows into this river.
