Elijah Thurmon, born on August 2, 1978, is a former professional football player. He was a wide receiver. He played in both the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL). He started his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He also played college football at Howard University. He was honored by being added to their Hall of Fame in 2016.

Growing Up and School
High School Sports
Elijah Thurmon went to Meade High School. There, he was a talented athlete. He played football, basketball, and ran track.
College Achievements
He then went to Howard University. He was excellent both in sports and in his studies. He earned awards like NCAA Academic All-American. He also received the Howard University Excellence Award. He got MEAC Academic Honors too. He was a "Unanimous All-American." This means everyone agreed he was one of the best. He set new records for receiving yards and catches at Howard University and in the MEAC conference.
Playing Professional Football
National Football League (NFL)
Elijah Thurmon was one of the best wide receivers in the MEAC. After college, the Philadelphia Eagles signed him as a free agent. This means they signed him without picking him in the draft.
The next season, he joined the Oakland Raiders. In 2003, the Chicago Bears signed him. They sent him to NFL Europe to play for the Berlin Thunder. He started ten games as a wide receiver for the Thunder. He led the team with 37 catches for 412 yards. He also scored five touchdowns.
Canadian Football League (CFL)
After playing in the NFL, Thurmon moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL). In 2004, he joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders as a free agent. In 2005, he had a great season. He made 88 catches as a slotback. He gained 1,048 yards and scored seven touchdowns. Because of his great play, he was chosen as a West Division All-Star.
In 2006, Thurmon became a free agent again. He then signed with the Calgary Stampeders.
The Montreal Alouettes signed Thurmon in 2007. He was named their offensive MVP in four of the 18 games that season.
After Football
In 2016, Elijah Thurmon was inducted into the Howard University Hall of Fame. This honor recognized his amazing college career.
