Ellen Kathleen Pompeo (born November 10, 1969) is an American actress. She is famous for playing Dr. Meredith Grey in the TV show Grey's Anatomy. She has won a Screen Actors Guild Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
Ellen was born in Everett, Massachusetts. She moved to Miami and then to New York City. There, a casting director found her and signed her for a L'Oreal ad. She first appeared on TV in Law & Order. She also guest-starred in shows like Friends. Her first movie was Coming Soon in 1999. A big moment in her career was in 2002. She was noticed for her role in the movie Moonlight Mile.
