Embarrass is a small village located in Waupaca County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In 2010, about 404 people lived there. It's a quiet place with an interesting history, especially how it got its unique name!

Geography of Embarrass
Embarrass is found in the state of Wisconsin. You can find its exact spot using coordinates: 44.670716 degrees North and 88.703361 degrees West.
The village is located almost exactly halfway between two other towns: Clintonville and Shawano. It sits right on Wisconsin State Highway 22.
The total area of the village is about 1.19 square miles (or 3.09 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 1.17 square miles (3.03 square kilometers), is land. A small part, about 0.02 square miles (0.06 square kilometers), is water.
How Embarrass Got Its Name
Many of the first lumberjacks who worked in this area were French Canadians. They tried to float logs down the river, but it was very difficult. The river had many snags and other things blocking the way.
Because of these blockages, they named the river "Riviere Embarrase." The French word embarrase means to block, to get in the way, or to tangle something up. This is how the village of Embarrass got its unique name!

According to the census from 2010, 404 people lived in Embarrass. There were 144 households, which are groups of people living together in homes. Out of these, 102 were families.
Most of the people in the village were White (97.0%). There were also small numbers of African American, Native American, and people from other backgrounds. About 0.7% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
