A Look Back: Emerson's History
Emerson was founded in 1881. It was built at an important spot where different train lines met. This made it a good place for a town to grow. The village was named after a famous American poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson. Seven years later, in 1888, Emerson officially became a village.
