Emersons Green: A Growing Community
Emersons Green has a history connected to mining. In the 1800s, people mined coal here. There's also a quarry nearby that has been used again recently.
A Hub for Science and Technology
A big and exciting project called the Bristol & Bath Science Park is located next to Emersons Green. It's built near the M4 motorway and the A4174 Ring Road. This park works with Bristol University and the University of the West of England.
Construction of the science park started in 2010 and it opened in 2011. It was designed to create many new jobs in science and technology. To help with the extra traffic from the park, a new road connecting the M4 to the Avon Ring Road has been planned.
How Emersons Green is Governed
Emersons Green has its own local government, called the Emersons Green Town Council. This council helps manage local services and represents the community.
From Hamlet to Parish
For a long time, Emersons Green was a small part of a larger area called Mangotsfield. In 2015, it became its own official "parish" (a local administrative area). Its boundaries were also changed to include new housing areas like Lyde Green and the Science Park. The M4 motorway now forms its northeastern border.
Local Representation
The Emersons Green parish is divided into four smaller areas called "wards." These wards are Badminton, Blackhorse, Pomphrey, and Emersons Green itself. Each ward elects councillors to represent the people living there on the Town Council.
Lyde Green: A New Neighborhood
Lyde Green is a new housing development built just east of Emersons Green. This area was also once farmland. Building new homes in Lyde Green began in the mid-2010s, creating more places for people to live in South Gloucestershire.
