Emily Joanna Carey (born on April 30, 2003) is an English actor. They started acting when they were a child. They appeared on stage and in the TV show Casualty on BBC One.

Emily Carey has played younger versions of famous characters. These include Diana Prince in the movie Wonder Woman (2017). They also played Lara Croft in Tomb Raider (2018). Later, they played Alicent Hightower in the HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon (2022). They also starred in the teen series Get Even (2020).

Emily Carey's Early Life

Emily Carey was born in Barnet, a part of London, England. From age three, they helped their grandmother backstage at the West End. Their grandmother used to be a wardrobe supervisor.

When Emily was eight, an agent discovered them. They were invited to acting classes by Michael Xavier. Emily met him through the musical The Sound of Music. Emily is now a supporter of his acting school, MX Masterclass.

Emily Carey started their acting career in 2013. They performed in the musical Shrek the Musical in London's West End. They also played Marta von Trapp in The Sound of Music. This show was at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre.

In 2014, Emily joined the TV show Casualty. They played the character Grace Beauchamp until 2017. They returned to the show in 2021. Emily also appeared in a music video for "Baby, It's Cold Outside". This song was sung by Idina Menzel and Michael Bublé.

They played Mary Conan Doyle in the TV drama Houdini & Doyle. In 2016, The Huffington Post named Emily one of the top five child stars.

Big Screen Roles

Emily Carey made their first movie appearance in 2017. They played a young Diana Prince in the DC Universe film Wonder Woman. After that, they played a young Lara Croft in the 2018 movie Tomb Raider. In 2019, Emily signed with IMG Models.

In 2020, Emily played Mika Cavanaugh in the teen series Get Even. This show was on BBC iPlayer and Netflix. They also played Anastasia in the movie Anastasia: Once Upon a Time on Netflix. Emily also lent their voice to animated films. They voiced Anne Frank in Where Is Anne Frank and Mila in Monster Family 2.

In July 2021, Emily was cast as a young Alicent Hightower. The older version of the character was played by Olivia Cooke. This role was for the 2022 HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon. This show is a prequel to Game of Thrones. It is based on George R. R. Martin's book Fire and Blood. Emily also played teenage Wendy in the movie The Lost Girls.

In June 2023, it was announced that Emily would play Harriet Manners. This role is for the Netflix show Geek Girl. It is based on the young adult book series by Holly Smale. The show came out on May 30, 2024.

Emily Carey identifies as queer and non-binary. They use they/them pronouns. Emily helped The Children's Trust start their #MyBrave campaign. They were in a relationship with musician Kellimarie Willis for a year. Emily is also autistic. In 2024, Emily shared on Instagram that they are in a relationship with British actress Jessica Revell.
