Emina Jahović (Serbian Cyrillic: Емина Јаховић; born January 15, 1982) is a famous singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman from Serbia. She is of Bosniak background. Emina was born and grew up in Novi Pazar. She started her music career in 2002.
So far, she has released five studio albums: Tačka (2002), Radije ranije (2005), Vila (2009), Metamorfoza (2014), and Dalje (2018). Besides singing, Emina also acted in the TV show Lale Devri from 2010 to 2014. She was also a judge on singing shows like X Factor Adria (2013) and Rising Star Türkiye (2016).
Emina was married to singer Mustafa Sandal. They have two sons together.

Early Life and Education
Emina Jahović was born on January 15, 1982, in Novi Pazar, Serbia. She grew up in a Muslim Bosniak family. Her mother, Senija, was a doctor who cared for children (a paediatrician). Her father, Nusret, was a heart doctor (a cardiologist).
Emina has two older brothers. One of them is Mirsad Türkcan, a famous basketball player. Emina's father passed away when she was thirteen years old. She started going to music school when she was in middle school. In high school, she took acting lessons. Later, Emina earned a degree in management from Braća Karić University in Belgrade.
Music Career Highlights
Emina started her music journey by joining local music festivals. She won the youth festival Zlatna staza in Montenegro. Her song was called "Samo ti, moja muziko" ("Only You, My Music").
First Albums and Early Success
Emina became well-known after her first album, Tačka ("Enough"), came out in 2002. It was released by Dino Merlin's record company. In 2004, Emina joined the pop-rock band Hari Mata Hari on their tour. They performed for people from former Yugoslavia living in other countries.
Her second album, Radije ranije ("Rather Sooner"), was released in 2005. It had popular songs like "Da l' ona zna" ("Does She Know"). In the same year, she was named songwriter of the year at the Pjesma Mediterana festival.
Collaborations and International Songs
In 2007, Emina worked with the Serbian group Flamingosi on the song "La Gitana" ("The Gypsy Woman"). The music video for this song won an award at the Sunčane Skale festival. The next year, she released her first English song, "Exhale." This song was made in New York City. It included remixes by DJs and featured American rapper Cory Gunz.
The music video for "Exhale" first showed on MTV Adria in April 2008. Emir Khalilzadeh directed this video. He also directed the video for Emina's 2009 song "Pile moje" ("My Dear"), which was filmed in historical places like Istanbul High School.
In December 2008, she released "Još ti se nadam" ("I'm Still Hoping for You"). This was a duet with Serbian singer Saša Kovačević. Emina said she wrote the lyrics after a short breakup with Mustafa Sandal. The music video for this song was filmed in different places in Serbia. It was considered one of the most expensive music videos in Serbian music history.
Vila Album and Concerts
In 2009, Emina performed "Pile moje" as a special guest at Sunčane Skale. She also wrote the song "Rođeni sa greškom" ("Born With a Mistake"). This song was performed by singers Ana Bebić, Milica Majstorović, and Danijel Pavlović.
On May 21, 2009, Emina's third album, Vila ("Fairy"), was released. She dedicated this album to her late grandfather. The album took two years to record. It included songs written and composed by Emina herself. The song "Med" ("Honey") was a duet with Dino Merlin. It is special because it's the only song Merlin sang that he didn't write himself.
On October 25, 2009, Emina held a concert at the Sava Centar in New Belgrade, Serbia. She sang her biggest hits and wore many different costumes. Other singers like Saša Kovačević and Jelena Tomašević joined her on stage for duets.
International Collaborations (2011–2012)
In 2011, Emina released two new songs: "Gospodine" ("Mister") and "Posle mene" ("After Me"). "Gospodine" was a duet with singer Nataša Bekvalac. The music video for "Posle mene" was filmed in Göcek, Fethiye.
In November 2011, Hello! Srbija magazine named her "Person of the Year." In March 2012, Emina collaborated with Turkish producer Erdem Kınay on the song "Broken." This song was chosen as the most interesting dance track for Turkey by Eurodanceweb.
In December 2012, Emina released her first solo song in Turkish, "Kimse Yok Mu?" ("Is There Anyone?"). She wrote and composed it with Mustafa Sandal. The Serbian version, "I da mogu" ("Even If I Could"), became very popular in countries like Bulgaria. Emina is sometimes called the "Turkish J.Lo" because her style is similar to Jennifer Lopez. "I da mogu" was one of the best-selling songs in Serbia in 2013.
X Factor Adria and Dalje (2013–2018)
In April 2013, Emina released "Nedostaješ" ("You're Missed"). She wrote and composed this song herself. The Turkish version of the song is called "Yakışmaz" ("Unsuitable"). In June 2013, she announced her fourth album with the song "Žena zmaj" ("Dragon Lady").
In September 2013, Emina became a judge and coach on the first season of X Factor Adria. She joined other famous musicians like Željko Joksimović. In October 2014, she released her fourth album, Metamorfoza ("Metamorphosis"). It sold 50,000 copies.
On January 23, 2018, Emina released her fifth album, Dalje ("Farther"). She worked with Darko Dimitrov on this album. Before the album, she released three songs in 2017: "Protiv svih" ("Against Everybody"), "Limunada" ("Lemonade") with Milica Todorović, and "Karma." The music video for "Limunada" has been watched over 80 million times on YouTube.
Artistic Style
Emina Jahović's music is mostly pop. She often mixes R&B with traditional Balkan pop sounds. Her songs often talk about love, but she also writes about other feelings like sadness. Emina has a strong voice that can sing both low and high notes.

Emina Jahović is a well-known artist in the Balkans. She uses her fame to help others through charity work.
In 2009, Emina became the official face of a campaign to fight against breast cancer. This campaign was organized by the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Humanitarian Foundation. She was announced as the face of the campaign at the White Palace in Belgrade.

Acting Career
From 2010 to 2011, Emina played the main character, Lale Taşkıran Ilgaz, in Lale Devri. This was a popular Turkish TV show. The show was also shown in over 30 countries around the world. In the Balkan Peninsula, it was called Polje lala.
Later, in 2012 and 2013, Emina and Mustafa Sandal appeared in TV commercials for Turkcell. This is a big telecommunications company in Turkey.
Modeling
Emina is also a model. She is almost 5 feet 11 inches (180 centimeters) tall. She has been the face of fashion brands like Fabrika and Kara. Emina has been featured on the covers of many European magazines, including Cosmopolitan Serbia and Vogue Türkiye.
Yaemina Beauty
In June 2014, Emina launched her first perfume, called Closer. In January 2016, she started her own beauty brand, Yaemina Beauty. She also released her second perfume, Closer Swan City.
Personal Life
Emina speaks several languages. Besides her native Serbian, she speaks English and Turkish very well. She also knows a little bit of Bulgarian and Slovenian.
When she was 17, Emina briefly married Aladin Đulović. On January 13, 2008, Emina married Turkish singer Mustafa Sandal. They met in July 2004. Their first son was born in Istanbul in August 2008. Their second son was born in February 2012. Emina also became a Turkish citizen in 2012. She and Mustafa Sandal later divorced in 2018.
