Eminence is a small community in Morgan County, Indiana, in the United States. It is called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own city government. It is also a "census-designated place" (CDP), which means the U.S. Census Bureau counts it as a specific area for statistics.

History of Eminence
Eminence was first planned out in July 1855. A person named William Wigal was responsible for starting the community.
The name "Eminence" might mean it's a great or important place. However, some people think the name describes the area's high ground or hills. Eminence has had its own post office since 1857.
Geography of Eminence
Eminence is located in the western part of Morgan County. You can find it where two main roads, State Road 42 and State Road 142, meet.
State Road 42 goes northeast about 12 miles to Monrovia. It also goes west about 10 miles to Cloverdale. State Road 142 goes east 10 miles to State Road 39. This is about 7 miles north of Martinsville, which is the main town for Morgan County.
The Eminence area covers about 0.30 square miles, and all of it is land. Water from the community flows northwest into the Mill Creek valley. Mill Creek then flows southwest into the Eel River. The Eel River is a branch of the White River.
Education in Eminence
Eminence is home to the Eels, who are the sports teams for Eminence Junior-Senior High School. Students in this community attend this school.
The community also has a public library. It is a branch of the Morgan County Public Library system.
Notable People from Eminence
- Glenn M. Curtis was a famous basketball coach. He won four state championships in Indiana. He coached at Lebanon and Martinsville high schools. He also coached at Indiana State University. He was even the high school coach for the legendary basketball player John Wooden.
