Emmaville is a small, unincorporated community in Hubbard County, Minnesota, United States. It's located about halfway between the towns of Park Rapids and Lake George. An "unincorporated community" is a place that doesn't have its own local government, but is part of a larger county or township.
Where is Emmaville?
This little community sits where two county roads, Hubbard County Roads 4 and 24, meet. It's spread across parts of both Clay Township and Lake Emma Township. Over the years, the number of people living in Emmaville has been quite small, usually somewhere between 4 and 29 residents.
The Emmaville Store
The main business in Emmaville is the Emmaville Store. It's a handy stop for many people. The store has a gas station, a convenience store where you can buy snacks and supplies, and a small cafe. There's also a small motel and places for camping nearby.
The store is very popular with snowmobilers during the winter. This is because it's located close to many snowmobile trails, including the Heartland State Trail. It's also well-known as the last stop for supplies before people enter Camp Wilderness, which is a Boy Scout summer camp.
Storm Damage in 2008
On June 6, 2008, Emmaville experienced a powerful storm. A storm system, which included at least one tornado, swept through the area. This caused a lot of damage, especially to trees and properties. One person was reported to have been injured during the storm.
New Owners for the Store
In 2010, the Emmaville Store was put up for sale. New owners bought the entire complex. They worked to fix up and improve the store and its buildings. The renovated Emmaville Store officially reopened in the spring of 2011.
