Erno Matti Juhani "Emppu" Vuorinen was born on June 24, 1978. He is a talented Finnish guitarist. Emppu is best known as a founding member of the band Nightwish. He also sometimes writes songs for the band. Emppu is the oldest of five children. He has a twin brother and three younger sisters. He began learning guitar when he was 12 years old. Since then, he has played in many different bands. These include Nightwish, Brother Firetribe, Barilari, Almah, and Altaria.

Emppu Vuorinen's Early Life and Music Journey
Emppu Vuorinen started playing the guitar as a hobby. He was only ten years old at the time. Emppu knew Jukka Nevalainen from elementary school. He met Tuomas Holopainen at a concert. When Tuomas decided to start a new band, he asked Emppu to join. This new band was named Nightwish. It began as a project focused on acoustic music. They also invited Tarja Turunen to sing a few songs with them.
Emppu's Achievements Outside Music
Emppu Vuorinen is not just a musician. He also has a black belt in judo. Judo is a type of martial art. He has won several medals in judo competitions. He earned a bronze medal at the Nordic youth championship. He also won two gold medals at the Finnish youth championship.

Emppu's Guitar Style
In Nightwish, Emppu mainly plays rhythm guitar. He often supports the keyboard or orchestra parts in their songs. But he also plays lead melodies and guitar solos. Emppu uses different techniques for his solos. These include alternate picking, tapping, and sliding. He also uses the whammy bar on his guitar. His solos are usually very melodic. They fit well with the band's metal style. Emppu's guitar work was more prominent in Nightwish's first three albums.
Emppu is also a creative part of Nightwish. He has helped write songs with Tuomas Holopainen. He co-wrote songs from the album Oceanborn up to Dark Passion Play. He wrote the song "Whoever Brings The Night" all by himself.
