Enchant is a small community, called a hamlet, located in southern Alberta, Canada. It's a quiet place found within the Municipal District of Taber. You can find Enchant along Highway 526 and near the Canadian Pacific Kansas City railway tracks. It sits between two other communities, Vauxhall and Lomond. Enchant is about 810 meters (2,657 feet) above sea level.

Where is Enchant Located?

Enchant is part of what's known as census division No. 2. This is a way Canada divides areas for counting people. It's also in the federal voting area called Medicine Hat. This means people in Enchant vote for a representative in the Canadian government who is part of the Medicine Hat area.

A Glimpse into Enchant's Past

Enchant wasn't always a hamlet. It used to be a small town, or "village," but it stopped being a village on February 1, 1945. This means it became part of the larger Municipal District of Taber for its local government.

The railway tracks reached Enchant in 1914. This was a big deal because it made it easier to transport goods. The first building used to store grain, called a grain elevator, was finished in 1915. This helped farmers in the area. Enchant was also the place where the Evangelical Free Church of Canada was started in 1917.

How Many People Live in Enchant?

The Municipal District of Taber counts its population regularly. In 2016, a count showed that 259 people lived in Enchant. This was a change from the 2013 count, which found 289 people living there.
