Lomond is a small village in southern Alberta, Canada. It is surrounded by Vulcan County. You can find Lomond where two highways meet: Highway 845 and Highway 531.
The village is about 74 kilometers (46 miles) southwest of Brooks. It is also about 49 kilometers (30 miles) east of Vulcan. Lomond is a community that helps the local farms. The village got its name from a famous lake in Scotland called Loch Lomond.
People of Lomond
The number of people living in Lomond changes over time. In 2021, a count by Statistics Canada showed that 178 people lived in the village. This was a small increase from 166 people in 2016.
The village covers an area of about 1.19 square kilometers (0.46 square miles). This means that in 2021, there were about 149 people living in each square kilometer.
Sports in Lomond
Lomond is home to a hockey team called the Lomond Lakers. They play in the Heritage Junior B Hockey League. The team joined the league in the 2018–19 season.
The Lakers used to play their home games at the Lomond Community Centre. However, problems with the roof were found in 2018. The building was later taken down in 2019. Now, the team plays its home games in Claresholm. This town is about 110 kilometers (68 miles) west of Lomond.
