Benjamin first planned to play college football at the University of Iowa. However, he later changed his mind and decided to go to Arizona State University instead.
College Career at Arizona State
Benjamin started playing for the Arizona State Sun Devils in 2017.
Freshman Year (2017)
As a freshman, Benjamin played in 10 games. He carried the ball 23 times for 142 yards and scored one touchdown. He also helped his team by returning punts, gaining 119 yards from these returns.
Sophomore Year (2018)
In 2018, during his sophomore season, Benjamin had a record-breaking game. He ran for 312 yards in a single game, which was a new record for Arizona State.
Junior Year (2019)
After his junior year in 2019, Benjamin had rushed for 1,083 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. He then decided to leave college early and enter the 2020 NFL draft. This means he chose to become a professional player instead of playing his final year of college football.
Professional Football Career
Eno Benjamin was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft. He was the 222nd player picked overall.
Arizona Cardinals (2020-2022)
In his first year as a rookie in 2020, Benjamin did not play in any games. He was listed as inactive for every game.
For the 2021 season, Benjamin was the third-string running back for the Cardinals. In Week 9, he got a chance to play more when another player was injured. He scored his first NFL rushing touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers. He finished the 2021 season with 118 rushing yards and one touchdown in nine games.
In 2022, during a game against the Carolina Panthers on October 2, Benjamin even took over kickoff duties for a short time. This happened because the team's regular kicker was dealing with a hip injury. On November 14, 2022, the Cardinals released him from their team.
Houston Texans (2022)
The very next day, on November 15, 2022, the Houston Texans picked up Benjamin. This means they claimed him after he was released by the Cardinals. However, he was released by the Texans on December 13, 2022.
New Orleans Saints (2022-2023)
On December 14, 2022, the New Orleans Saints also claimed Benjamin after he was released by the Texans.
Unfortunately, on August 5, 2023, it was announced that Benjamin had a serious injury. He tore his Achilles tendon during practice. This type of injury meant he would miss the entire 2023 football season.
