Epping Forest (district) facts for kids
Epping Forest district is a special area in Essex, England. It's right next to Greater London. A big part of this district is covered by the famous forest of the same name. This district was officially created on April 1, 1974.
Much of the Epping Forest district looks like the countryside, with lots of open spaces and greenery. However, in the southern part, closer to Greater London, it becomes more like a suburb. The largest town in the district, Loughton, is located in this suburban area. Further north, you'll find Chipping Ongar, which is a smaller market town. The main offices for the district's administration are in Epping, which is pretty much in the middle of the district. The rest of the area is mostly made up of charming villages.
About 130,000 people call the Epping Forest district home. Two major highways, the M25 and the M11, also pass through this district.
