Equal Vision Records is an independent record label based in Albany, New York. This means it's a music company that helps artists record and release their music, but it's not owned by a big corporation. It was started in the early 1990s by Ray Cappo. He was the singer for several punk bands like Youth of Today and Shelter.
At first, the label mainly released music from Ray Cappo's own bands and other groups connected to the Krishna movement. In 1992, a person named Steve Reddy took over Equal Vision from Ray Cappo. After that, the company started working with a wider variety of bands. During the mid-to-late 1990s, Equal Vision Records focused more on hardcore music. They signed popular bands like One King Down and Ten Yard Fight. By the end of the 1990s, the label had many hardcore and punk bands, including Bane, Trial, Converge, and Saves the Day.
