Musical Career
Chiodos
In 2001, Craig Owens and his friends started a band in Davison, Michigan. At first, they called themselves "Chiodos Bros." to honor the the Chiodo Brothers, who are famous for special effects in movies.
In 2004, the band signed with Equal Vision Records and changed their name to Chiodos. A year later, they released their first big album, All's Well That Ends Well. The band became very popular and spent many years touring and making music.
Owens left the band for a while but later wanted to come back. On April 26, 2012, he officially announced he was rejoining Chiodos. The band played their first reunion show on August 9, 2012, in Michigan.
In 2016, Owens announced that Chiodos had decided to stop making music together. He explained that it was hard for the members to continue the band full-time. This marked the end of the band's fifteen-year journey.
Supergroups and Side Projects
Besides Chiodos, Craig Owens has been involved in many other exciting bands, often called "supergroups" because they feature members from other famous bands.
The Sound of Animals Fighting
Owens was a singer in the supergroup The Sound of Animals Fighting. The members of this band, who came from groups like Circa Survive and Rx Bandits, wore animal masks to keep their identities a secret. This helped them focus on being creative with their music.
Owens was known as the Ram in the group. He sang on their 2006 album, Lover, the Lord Has Left Us.... He also performed with them live that same year.
Cinematic Sunrise
While in Chiodos, Owens and his bandmate Bradley Bell started a side project called Cinematic Sunrise. They wanted a way to create music that had a different style from Chiodos.
In 2008, the band signed with Equal Vision Records. Their lineup included Owens, Bell, Bryan Beeler, Marcus Vankirk, and Dave Shapiro. They released an EP called A Coloring Storybook and Long Playing Record that same year.
Isles & Glaciers
In 2008, Owens started another supergroup called Isles & Glaciers. This band included famous musicians like Jonny Craig and Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil. The group also featured Owens' Chiodos bandmate Matt Goddard.
Isles & Glaciers released their EP, The Hearts of Lonely People, in 2010. Fans were excited about the collaboration between so many talented artists.
Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows
After leaving Chiodos in 2009, Owens took some time for himself and wrote new songs. He soon formed a new band called Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows. The group included Nick Martin from Cinematic Sunrise, Matt Good from From First to Last, and Adam Russell from Story of the Year.
In 2011, the band released their first album, which was a big success. It reached No. 29 on the Billboard 200 chart and was No. 1 on the Hard Rock Albums chart.
Solo Music
Craig Owens has also released music on his own. In 2009, he released a solo EP called With Love.
Bea5t
In 2016, Owens released a short, intense EP called Empathy Is A Gift. He used the name Bea5t for this project and made the music available online.
badXchannels
After Chiodos ended, Owens started a new solo project called badXchannels. He released an EP in late 2016 and more songs in 2017. He continues to create and perform music under this name. Most recently, he worked with The Frst on the song “Love In 3D,” which came out on November 1, 2024.
