Erect, North Carolina is a small, quiet place in the United States. It's not a big city but a special kind of community called an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of Randolph County, North Carolina. Erect is also part of a larger area known as the Piedmont Triad region.

Discovering Erect, North Carolina
Where is Erect Located?
Erect is easy to find on North Carolina Highway 42. It's about seven miles east of the famous North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro. If you head west from Coleridge, you'll reach Erect in about two miles.
A Glimpse into History
This area was settled a long time ago, in the 1700s. People from Germany and England came to live here. They also settled in nearby communities like Steeds, Sophia, Whynot, Hemp, and Lonely. Many of these early settlers were very skilled at making pottery.
Erect even had its own post office! It opened in 1883, which was a very long time ago. The post office stayed open until 1935. In 1889, about 39 people lived in Erect.
Pottery Power!
Did you know that the area around Erect is famous for pottery? Just twelve miles southeast is the town of Seagrove. This whole region, about 15 square miles, is known as the "Pottery Capital of North Carolina."
Erect is also close to the "North Carolina Pottery Highway." This is a special route along North Carolina Highway 705. You can find about 100 different potteries and galleries along this highway in Randolph and Moore counties. It's a great place to see beautiful handmade pottery!

In the area around Erect, you can find a few important water features. These include Goss Lake, Goss Lake Dam, and the Lambert Mill Dam. These are all located within the Erect quad, which is a specific map area.
