Eric Lloyd Murdock (born June 14, 1968) is an American former professional basketball player. He was often called "Man of Steal" because of his great ability to steal the ball from opponents. Eric was chosen by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 1991 NBA draft. He was the 21st player picked overall.

Eric Murdock's Early Life
Eric Murdock grew up in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. His mother passed away when he was very young. He played high school basketball at Bridgewater-Raritan High School West.
College Basketball Career
Eric Murdock was a 6-foot-1-inch point guard. He played college basketball at Providence College. During his time there, he set many school records.
- He had the most career steals with 376. This was also an NCAA record until 2002.
- He scored the most points in conference games in one season (435 points). This was also a Big East record.
- He scored the most points in a single game (48 points), which was another Big East record.
- He made the most free throws in one season (238).
Because of his amazing skills at Providence College, people gave him the nickname "EMT," which stood for "Eric Murdock Time."
Playing in the NBA
Eric Murdock played for 9 seasons in the NBA, from 1991 to 2000. He played for several teams, including the Utah Jazz, Milwaukee Bucks, Vancouver Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat, New Jersey Nets, and Los Angeles Clippers.
His best year in the NBA was during the 1993–94 season. He played for the Milwaukee Bucks. In that season, he played in all 82 games and started in 76 of them. He averaged 15.3 points per game. He was also ranked 6th in the league for his three-point shooting percentage that year.
After this great season, Eric faced a challenge. Before the next season, he got an eye injury. Even though he recovered later that season, he didn't play as much. He was then traded to the Vancouver Grizzlies.
During his NBA career, Eric Murdock played in a total of 508 games. He scored 5,118 points in total.
Memorable Moments
Eric Murdock had some exciting moments during his career.
- On April 2, 1994, in a game against the Washington Bullets, he stole the ball nine times! This was a very high number of steals in one game.
- On January 24, 1995, he made an incredible shot against the Houston Rockets. He scored a basket from 75 feet away right as the third quarter ended.
Playing Overseas
Besides playing in the NBA, Eric Murdock also played basketball in Italy. He played for Teamsystem Bologna from 1996 to 1997. His team even reached the Italian Championship finals. Later, he played for Virtus Bologna from 2002 to 2003.
After His Playing Career
From 2010 to 2012, Eric Murdock worked for Rutgers University. He was the director of basketball player development. This meant he helped basketball players improve their skills.
Eric Murdock's cousin, Jason Murdock, also played college basketball at Providence from 1993 to 1997.
