Eric Lloyd Murdock (born June 14, 1968) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He was known by the nickname "Man of Steal" because he was very good at stealing the ball from opponents. Eric was chosen by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 1991 NBA draft.

Eric's Early Life and College Career
Eric Murdock grew up in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. Sadly, when Eric was very young, his mother passed away. He played high school basketball at Bridgewater-Raritan High School West.
After high school, Eric, who is 6 feet 1 inch tall, became a point guard for Providence College. He set many records there! He had the most career steals (376), which was an NCAA record until 2002. He also scored the most points in conference games in a season (435) and the most points in a single game (48). These were also Big East records. Because of his amazing skills at Providence College, people called him "EMT," which stood for Eric Murdock Time.
Eric's Professional Basketball Journey
Eric Murdock played for 9 seasons in the NBA, from 1991 to 2000. He played for several teams, including the Jazz, Milwaukee Bucks, Vancouver Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat, New Jersey Nets, and Los Angeles Clippers.
NBA Highlights
His best year in the NBA was during the 1993–94 season when he played for the Milwaukee Bucks. He played in all 82 games that season and started in 76 of them. He averaged 15.3 points per game. That same year, he was one of the best players in the league at shooting three-pointers.
Eric also played basketball in Italy for teams like Teamsystem Bologna (1996–1997) and Virtus Bologna (2002–2003).
On April 2, 1994, Eric showed off his "Man of Steal" nickname by stealing the ball nine times in a game against the Washington Bullets. Another amazing moment happened on January 24, 1995, when he scored a basket from 75 feet away right as the buzzer sounded at the end of the third quarter!
In his entire NBA career, Eric Murdock played in 508 games and scored a total of 5,118 points.
Life After Playing Basketball
From 2010 to 2012, Eric worked at Rutgers University as the director of basketball player development. He helped young players improve their skills.
Later, Eric bravely spoke up about some unfair coaching practices he witnessed at Rutgers. His actions helped bring about important changes at the university.
In 2018, Eric also had a disagreement with an airline. He felt he was treated unfairly and took action. The issue was later resolved in 2019.
Eric's cousin, Jason Murdock, also played college basketball at Providence from 1993 to 1997.
