Eric Prydz's Music Career
Early Hits and "Call on Me"
Eric Prydz is most famous for his 2004 hit song "Call on Me". This song was number one in the UK for five weeks. It also topped the charts in Germany for six weeks. Even though this song made him very popular, Eric Prydz usually does not play it in his shows anymore. He wants people to know him for his newer music.
In 2006, he released a new version of Pink Floyd's song "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2". This new version was called "Proper Education" and came with a music video. In 2008, Prydz released another popular song called "Pjanoo". This song was number one on the UK Dance Chart.
Swedish House Mafia and Collaborations
Eric Prydz was part of a group of DJs called the Swedish House Mafia. This group also included Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello. When the group officially formed in 2008, Eric decided not to join them. However, he has worked with Axwell under the name Axer. He also worked with Steve Angello as A&P Project.
The "Pryda Snare" and First Album
In 2009, Eric Prydz released "Miami to Atlanta." This song was the first to use something called the "Pryda snare." The Pryda snare is a special sound effect used in house and trance music. It uses a strong, long drum sound at the end of a music section. This sound helps mark changes in a song. Many other electronic music producers, like Martin Garrix, use this technique.
On 21 May 2012, Eric Prydz released his first album, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda. It was a three-disc album. The first disc had new songs that fans had not heard before. The other two discs had many of his classic songs from his Pryda collection. These songs were mixed together by Eric himself.
EPIC Shows and Opus Album
In 2014, Eric Prydz celebrated 10 years of his music label, Pryda Recordings. To mark this, he released a collection of unreleased songs from 2004 to 2014. This collection was called PR(10)DA. It was released as three smaller albums (EPs) before his main album came out.
On 19 May 2014, Eric Prydz announced his third big concert series, EPIC 3.0. This show promised the "world's largest indoor hologram." It also featured new music and amazing visuals. He performed EPIC 3.0 on 27 September 2014, at Madison Square Garden. The show used a huge 20-meter, 4K hologram and 32 lasers.
On 5 February 2016, Eric Prydz released his first studio album, Opus.
In 2019, to celebrate 15 years of his Pryda music, he released PR(15)DA. This collection had 27 songs. On 19 July 2019, Prydz announced EPIC 6.0. This show featured a giant, eight-meter-wide transparent LED sphere called a holosphere. It surrounded Eric Prydz during his performance at Tomorrowland festival. The sphere had over 2.4 million LEDs that showed galaxies and alien planets.
Prydz also performed a HOLO show at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2023.
Besides making music, Eric Prydz also runs his own record labels. These include Pryda, Pryda Friends, Pryda Presents, and Mouseville. He releases most of his own music through these labels. On Pryda, he releases music as Pryda. On Mouseville Records, which started in 2002, he releases techno songs as Cirez D.
