Early Life and Music Beginnings
Steve Angello was born in Athens, Greece. His father was Greek and his mother was Swedish. He grew up in Sweden with his brother, Antoine Josefsson, who is also a DJ known as AN21. Steve started as a scratch DJ when he was 12 years old. This means he used turntables to make cool sounds with records. He entered many competitions, mixing hip-hop and old songs. Later, he started making and playing electronic music.
Steve Angello's Music Career
Starting Out: 2001–2006
Steve Angello often worked with his friend, fellow Swedish DJ Sebastian Ingrosso. They produced music together under different names like Buy Now and Mode Hookers. In 2003, Steve started his own record label called Size Records in Stockholm, Sweden. He released his own songs like "Gypsy" and "Isabel" through Size Records. In 2004, he made a remix of the famous song "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" by Eurythmics. In 2006, Steve teamed up with Axwell to create music as Supermode. They released a hit song called "Tell Me Why".
Big Hits and Collaborations: 2006–2008

After the success of "Tell Me Why", Steve Angello had another big hit in 2007. He worked on David Guetta's song "Baby When the Light". He also collaborated with Sebastian Ingrosso on the song "Umbrella". In 2008, Steve Angello released a very popular remix of Robin S.'s song "Show Me Love". He made this remix with Dutch DJ Laidback Luke. This song became a number one hit on the UK dance charts. It is still played a lot today.
Joining Swedish House Mafia: 2008–2013
In late 2008, Steve Angello, Axwell, and Sebastian Ingrosso formed the supergroup Swedish House Mafia. They quickly became very popular.
First Album: Until One
In 2010, Swedish House Mafia released their first album, Until One. It included hit singles like "One (Your Name)" (with Pharrell Williams) and "Miami 2 Ibiza" (with Tinie Tempah). The album also featured some of Steve Angello's solo songs, like "Valodja" and "Tivoli". His famous "Show Me Love" remix was also on this album. In 2010, Steve Angello performed at the Tomorrowland festival for the first time with Swedish House Mafia.
Second Album: Until Now
In May 2011, Steve Angello and Swedish House Mafia started working on their second album. They released the single Save the World with singer John Martin. They performed at Tomorrowland again. In 2012, they released their most successful song, "Don't You Worry Child". This song also featured John Martin and became number one in many countries. It was part of their second album, Until Now, released in October 2012.
One Last Tour and Group Break
In November 2012, Swedish House Mafia announced their One Last Tour. They said this tour would be their last. The group decided to split up after their final show at Ultra Music Festival Miami in 2013.
Growing Size Records: 2013–2014
After Swedish House Mafia's tour, Steve Angello focused on his record label, Size Records. In March 2013, he launched "X", a new label under Size Records, focusing on a different style of electronic music called tech house. In August 2013, Size Records celebrated its tenth anniversary. They released the song "SLVR" with Russian duo Matisse & Sadko. This was the 100th song released on the label. In 2014, Steve Angello released "Payback" with Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman. Size Records also gave away their first 100 songs for free as a special promotion.
Solo Albums: Wild Youth and Human
Wild Youth (2014–2016)
Steve Angello planned to release a new solo album called Wild Youth. The first song from the album, "Wasted Love", came out in July 2014. It featured vocals from Dougy of the band The Temper Trap. In 2015, he released more songs from the album, including "Children of the Wild" and "Remember". The full album Wild Youth was released on January 22, 2016.
Human and Swedish House Mafia Reunion (2017–Present)
In 2017, Steve Angello released several new songs in a series called "Acts" (Genesis, Inferno, Paradiso). These songs, along with "Nothing Scares Me Anymore", were part of his second solo album, Human. This album was released in April 2018.
Just before his album came out, Steve Angello canceled some tour dates. This led to many rumors that Swedish House Mafia would reunite. And they did! The trio surprised everyone by reuniting at Ultra Miami 2018, exactly five years after their last show. Steve Angello later confirmed that Swedish House Mafia would go on a world tour in 2019.
Personal Life
Steve Angello has been friends with Sebastian Ingrosso, another member of Swedish House Mafia, since they were six years old. In 2013, Steve married Swedish model and TV personality Isabel Adrian. They have two daughters, Monday-Lily (born 2010) and Winter-Rose (born 2012). He lives part-time in Los Angeles.
