Erin Jill Andrews (born May 4, 1978) is a famous American sportscaster and television host. She is best known for reporting from the sidelines at major sporting events.

Andrews first became well-known as a reporter for the sports channel ESPN in 2004. In 2012, she moved to Fox Sports, where she became the main sideline reporter for the network's NFL games.

Besides sports, she appeared on the TV show Dancing with the Stars. In 2010, she competed as a dancer and finished in third place. Later, from 2014 to 2019, she returned to the show as a co-host.

Early Life and Education

Erin Andrews was born in Lewiston, Maine. Her father, Steven Andrews, was a TV journalist, and her mother, Paula Andrews, was a teacher. When Erin was five, her family moved to San Antonio, Texas, and later to Valrico, Florida.

Growing up, Andrews loved sports. She described herself as a "tomboy" because she enjoyed activities that were often thought of as being for boys at the time. She loved watching NBA basketball games, especially the Boston Celtics, with her dad.

She was inspired by female sportscasters like Hannah Storm and Suzy Kolber. Watching them on TV made her want to become a sportscaster, too.

In high school, Andrews was on the dance team and was a member of the National Honor Society. After graduating in 1996, she went to the University of Florida. She earned a degree in telecommunications in 2000. In college, she was also part of the Florida Gators Dazzlers dance team.

Career in Broadcasting

First Jobs in Sports TV

After college, Andrews started working as a freelance reporter for Fox Sports Florida in 2000. For the next few years, she covered many sports teams in the southern United States. She reported on the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team and teams from Atlanta, including the Atlanta Braves (baseball), Atlanta Thrashers (hockey), and Atlanta Hawks (basketball).

Working at ESPN

In 2004, Andrews joined ESPN, a major sports network. This was a big step in her career. She started as a reporter for ESPN National Hockey Night.

Soon, she was covering many different events. These included the College World Series for baseball and the Little League World Series. She became a sideline reporter for college football games, which meant she interviewed players and coaches right on the field.

In 2010, she showed off her dancing skills on the TV show Dancing with the Stars. She and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, did very well and finished in third place.

Joining Fox Sports

In 2012, Andrews left ESPN to join Fox Sports. At Fox, she became the host of the network's college football studio show. She also reported from the field at big events like the MLB All-Star Game, the World Series, and the Daytona 500.

Starting in 2014, she became the lead sideline reporter for Fox's main NFL broadcast team. This is one of the most important jobs in sports broadcasting. She interviews top players and coaches during the biggest games of the week.

From 2014 to 2019, Andrews also co-hosted Dancing with the Stars with Tom Bergeron. In 2021, she started a podcast called Calm Down with her friend and fellow sportscaster, Charissa Thompson.

Charity Work and Other Projects

Andrews has used her fame to help others. In 2010, she was a spokesperson for a campaign called Huddle to Fight Hunger, which raised money for the charity Feeding America.

She has also helped raise money for the American Red Cross after natural disasters. In 2014, she became a spokesperson for CoverGirl cosmetics. She has also worked with companies like Reebok and Orangetheory Fitness. In 2019, she launched her own line of sports clothing with the company Fanatics.

Personal Life

Andrews lives in Los Angeles, California. In 2012, she began dating professional hockey player Jarret Stoll. They got married on June 24, 2017.

In 2016, Andrews was diagnosed with a serious illness called cervical cancer. She had two successful surgeries and is now cancer-free. She said the experience made her relationship with Stoll stronger. The couple welcomed a son in July 2023.

After her recovery, Andrews began working to help others. She joined a campaign to encourage women to get regular health check-ups. She wants to make sure everyone understands the importance of seeing a doctor to stay healthy.

Standing Up for Her Privacy

In 2008, Andrews was the victim of a serious crime. A man secretly filmed her in her hotel room without her permission. This was a major invasion of her privacy.

Andrews bravely took action. The person who filmed her was arrested and punished for his crime. She also took the hotel to court for not protecting her privacy and safety. In 2016, a jury agreed that the hotel was partly responsible and awarded her a large sum of money.

After this difficult experience, Andrews worked with lawmakers to help create a new federal law against stalking. Her strength in a tough situation helped make new rules to protect other people.
