Es Cubells is a charming small village located on the beautiful island of Ibiza, which is part of Spain. You can find it in the southwest part of the island. The village is part of the larger area called Sant Josep de sa Talaia. It's about 17 kilometers (10.6 miles) southwest of Ibiza Town and 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) from Ibiza Airport.
Discover Es Cubells
Es Cubells is a quiet and lovely place, known for its stunning views and peaceful atmosphere. It's a great spot to visit if you want to experience a more traditional side of Ibiza.
The Famous Church of Es Cubells
The most famous landmark in Es Cubells is its beautiful church. It's a whitewashed building with strong side supports, and it faces the sparkling sea.
The first church here was started in 1864. A special Carmelite friar named Francisco Palau worked hard to make it happen. Francisco Palau was an important person in Ibiza's history. He spent a lot of time living like a hermit on the small island of Es Vedrà, which is nearby.
Sadly, the original church was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War. But a new church was built in 1957. This new church fits perfectly with its surroundings. Its traditional style, neat square, pretty gardens, and amazing location on top of a cliff make it a very popular place. Many couples choose to get married here because of its beauty.
A Special Monument
Close to the church, right on top of the Es Cubells cliffs, you'll find a monument dedicated to fishermen. This monument was put there in 1996 to honor all the people who work hard fishing in the sea around Ibiza.
