How Eskridge Got Its Name

In return, the town was named after him. Charles Eskridge was also a lieutenant governor in Kansas in 1869.

World War II and Eskridge

During World War II in 1943, many American men went to fight. This caused a shortage of workers in places like Kansas. To help with this, German and Italian prisoners of war were brought to the state. They helped with farm work and other jobs.

Large camps were set up in Kansas for these prisoners. There were also smaller camps. One of these smaller camps was located west of Eskridge, near Lake Wabaunsee.
