Esplugues de Llobregat is a lively town near Barcelona, Spain. It is part of the Barcelona metropolitan area. This town used to be mostly industrial. Now, it offers many different services and businesses. Esplugues de Llobregat has kept its special culture and history.
The town has a charming old quarter. It is the only one like it in the Baix Llobregat area. You can find the winding Carrer de Montserrat street there. This street goes through a large group of buildings made by sculptor Xavier Corberó. The old Can Cortada mansion was once home to the Baron Maldà. He wrote an important book called Calaix de Sastre in the late 1700s.
Esplugues also has beautiful parks and green spaces. These include the Park of Solidarity, the Park of Torrents, and the Can Vidalet Park. From the top of Sant Pere Màrtir mountain, you can see amazing views of the whole town.
Two international schools, the German School of Barcelona and the American School of Barcelona, are located here. These schools attract families from other countries. Getting Around Esplugues
Esplugues de Llobregat has great connections to major roads. It is linked to highways B-20 and B-23. The N-340 road also connects to the town. It is right across from Avinguda Diagonal, a very important street in Barcelona.
The town is close to major transport hubs. It is about 11 kilometers (7 miles) from the Barcelona–El Prat Airport. The port of Barcelona is about 13 kilometers (8 miles) away. Downtown Barcelona is only about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from Esplugues.
You can travel to Barcelona using several bus lines. These include lines 57, 63, 67, 68, and 157. The town also has the T1, T2, and T3 Trambaix lines. The only metro station in Esplugues is Can Vidalet on the L5 line. Two more metro stops are being built to make travel even easier.

The first official record of land in what is now Esplugues was in 1096. This record described a small piece of land with a few homes. The first documents that mention a town called Esplugues de Llobregat are from the 1300s. This shows the town has a long and interesting history.
