Eugene Wilde's Music Journey

Early Life and Music Groups

Ronald Eugene Broomfield was born in North Miami Beach, Florida. He grew up in Miami. As a child, he was part of a family music group called La Voyage. They performed in local clubs. In the 1970s, the group changed its name to Tight Connection. Later, they became known as Simplicious. In 1979, Ronald also recorded an album with Curtom Records. He was a member of a group called Today, Tomorrow, Forever at that time.

How Eugene Wilde Got His Name

Ronald's manager found out his middle name was Eugene. The manager thought it would be a great professional name. For his last name, "Wilde," Ronald saw an advertisement. It was for a New York club called Wildflower's. This gave him the idea for his stage name, Eugene Wilde.

Becoming a Hitmaker

In 1984, Eugene Wilde joined Philly World Records. He wrote and recorded his first big song, "Gotta Get You Home Tonight". This song became number one on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It also reached number 18 in the UK Singles Chart.

A year later, he had another number one hit. This song was called "Don't Say No Tonight." He also released other popular songs. One of these was "Diana" in 1986. His song "Personality" also did well in the UK. Later songs released on the MCA label were not as successful.

Film Appearances and Duets

In 1985, Eugene Wilde was in a film called Rappin'. He performed a song called "First Love Never Dies" with Joanna Gardner. This song was a duet and was also on the film's soundtrack.

In 1987, he sang a duet with Sheena Easton. The song was "What If We Fall in Love." It appeared on Sheena Easton's album, No Sound But a Heart. After this, he started his own record label. It was called Wilde City Records and was based in Florida.

Writing Songs for Other Stars

Starting in the 1990s, Eugene Wilde became a successful songwriter. He wrote songs for many famous artists. He co-wrote "I'll Never Break Your Heart" for the Backstreet Boys. He also helped write "Dear Diary" for Britney Spears. This song was on her 2000 album Oops!... I Did It Again.

He also co-wrote the song "I Wish" for Victoria Beckham. This song was planned as a duet with Robbie Craig. It was also featured in the film Bend It Like Beckham. The movie's title was a playful reference to Victoria's husband, David Beckham.

Recent Music Projects

In 2010, Eugene Wilde worked with a Danish music group called Cool Million. He sang the main vocals on their song "Back for More." He also helped write this song with his son, Du Juan. They also wrote another song called "Loose." On this track, Eugene sang a duet with his sister, Dee Dee Wilde.
