The Legends Tour is a special golf competition for professional male golfers. To join, players must be 50 years old or older. The PGA European Tour organizes this exciting tour. It used to be called the European Senior Tour. For a couple of years (2018 and 2019), it was known as the Staysure Tour. This was because an insurance company called Staysure sponsored it. In 2020, the tour became the Legends Tour. This happened when Ryan Howsam, who owns Staysure, teamed up with the European Tour to run it.

How the Legends Tour Started
The Legends Tour began in 1992. Many top professional golfers wanted a tour just for older players. This idea came about five years after the first Senior Open Championship in 1987.
One of the biggest events in Europe is the Senior British Open Championship. This championship is also part of the PGA Tour Champions. In 2018, it was played at the famous Old Course at St Andrews for the first time. The European Tour also helps organize the Senior PGA Championship and the U.S. Senior Open. Money won at the U.S. Senior Open does not count towards the Legends Tour rankings. However, winnings from the Senior PGA Championship have counted since 2007.
Top Golfers: Order of Merit Winners
The "Order of Merit" is like a leaderboard for the Legends Tour. It shows which golfer earned the most points or prize money in a season. Winning the Order of Merit means you were the best player that year.

Awards for New Players
Each year, the Legends Tour gives an award to the best new player. This is called the "Rookie of the Year" award. It celebrates golfers who are new to the tour but play really well.
