Evan Michael Engram (born September 2, 1994) is an American professional football player. He plays as a tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Ole Miss Rebels. In 2016, he was named a first-team All-American. The New York Giants chose him as the 23rd pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.

Early Life and High School Football
Evan Engram was born on September 2, 1994, in Powder Springs, Georgia. He grew up there and played high school football at Hillgrove High School. He was a talented tight end and was considered a "3-star recruit." This means he was a highly rated player coming out of high school.
He decided to play college football at Ole Miss. He chose Ole Miss over offers from several other universities.
College Football Career
At Ole Miss, Engram became a standout player. He was recognized as a first-team player in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). This is a big honor in college football.
During his four years at Ole Miss, he caught 162 passes for 2,320 yards. He also scored 15 touchdowns. In 2014, he had an amazing game in the Egg Bowl, catching five passes for 176 yards. In his final year, 2016, he caught 65 passes for 926 yards and eight touchdowns. His excellent performance earned him the Conerly Trophy, which is given to the best college football player in Mississippi.

Professional NFL Career
Evan Engram was highly sought after by NFL teams. He was invited to the Senior Bowl, a game where top college players showcase their skills. Experts believed he would be a top pick in the NFL draft.
New York Giants
2017 Season
The New York Giants picked Engram in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft. He was the 23rd player chosen overall. The Giants signed him to a four-year contract. He quickly became the team's starting tight end.
He played his first professional game against the Dallas Cowboys. He caught four passes for 44 yards. Later that season, he scored his first NFL touchdown against the Detroit Lions. By the end of his rookie year, he had 64 catches for 722 yards and six touchdowns. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team, which honors the best first-year players.
2018 Season
In his second year, Engram played in 11 games. He caught 45 passes for 577 yards and scored three touchdowns. He missed some games due to injuries to his knee and foot.
2019 Season

Engram started the 2019 season strong. In Week 1, he had his first game with over 100 receiving yards. He caught 11 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown against the Cowboys. In Week 3, he had another great game, catching a 75-yard touchdown pass. This was the first touchdown pass caught from rookie quarterback Daniel Jones. Unfortunately, he suffered a foot injury and missed the last five games. He finished the season with 44 catches for 467 yards and three touchdowns.
2020 Season
The Giants decided to keep Engram for another year, picking up the "fifth-year option" on his contract. This meant he would play for them in 2021.
During the 2020 season, Engram was named to his first Pro Bowl. This is a special game that features the best players from the NFL. He had 63 catches for 654 yards and one touchdown. However, he also had some struggles, dropping several passes during important moments.
2021 Season
Engram missed the first two games of the 2021 season due to a calf injury. He finished the season with 46 catches for 408 yards and three touchdowns. Towards the end of the year, he was used more for blocking than for catching passes.
Jacksonville Jaguars
2022 Season
In March 2022, Engram signed a one-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He scored his first touchdown as a Jaguar in Week 8. In Week 14, he had a career-best game against the Tennessee Titans. He caught 11 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns. He ended the 2022 season with 73 catches for 766 yards and four touchdowns.
In the playoffs, Engram continued to play well. He caught seven passes for 93 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars' exciting win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
2023 Season
The Jaguars showed how much they valued Engram by placing the "franchise tag" on him in March 2023. This is a special tag that keeps a player with their team for another year. Later, in July, the Jaguars signed him to a new three-year contract.
Engram had an incredible 2023 season. He caught 114 passes for 963 yards and four touchdowns. He became one of only eight tight ends in NFL history to catch over 100 passes in a single season. Because of his great performance, he was named to the 2024 Pro Bowl Games as an alternate player.
2024 Season
The 2024 season started with an injury for Engram. He hurt his hamstring in Week 1 and missed several games. He returned in Week 6 and had 10 catches for 102 yards. In Week 13, during a game against the Houston Texans, Engram reacted when his quarterback was hit. He pushed an opposing player, which led to a fine. Sadly, his season ended early in Week 14 when he suffered a torn labrum, a shoulder injury. He finished the season with 47 catches for 365 yards and one touchdown in nine games.
