Evart (pronounced EHH-vert) is a small city in Osceola County, located in the state of Michigan. In 2020, about 1,742 people lived there. Evart is on the northern edge of Evart Township. It is also partly in Osceola Township. However, the city runs itself independently.

Discover the History of Evart
Evart was started in 1871 by two people, D. A. Blodgett and James Kennedy. The very first person to settle in Evart was Joseph Smith. The town was named after Perry Oliver "Frank" Everts. He was an early pioneer in the area.
The town was officially mapped out in 1872. It became an incorporated village in 1873. This means it got its own local government. It was re-incorporated as a city in 1875. By 1884, about 1,500 people lived in Evart.

Evart is a city that covers about 2.53 square miles (6.55 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water. The city is located right along U.S. Route 10 in Michigan. This is a major highway. It also sits next to the Muskegon River.
