Every Witch Way Story Overview

Season 1: Emma Discovers Her Powers

The story begins when Emma Alonso moves to Miami, Florida, with her dad, Francisco. She starts at Iridium High and soon finds out she's a witch! Not just any witch, but the "Chosen One," meaning she has very strong powers. Emma gets help from Lily, the school nurse and her guardian, and her best friend, Andi Cruz. She also likes Daniel Miller, a member of the school's swim team, the Sharks.

But there are challenges! Maddie Van Pelt, the leader of the popular "Panthers" group, is also a new witch and Daniel's ex-girlfriend. The school principal, Miss Torres, is a 400-year-old witch who was the old Chosen One, and she's not very nice. Miss Torres tries to steal Emma's powers during an eclipse. However, Emma and Maddie team up, even though they don't usually get along, and use a spell from the Hexoren (a magic spell book Emma got from her mom) to stop her. At the end of the season, Emma and Daniel become a couple. Emma also secretly keeps her powers, even though she thinks she lost them.

Season 2: New Faces and New Rules

It's a new school year, and the Witches' Council, who lead the magic world, tell Emma she can't date Daniel because he's human. If she wants to be with him, she has to give up her powers and become human, like her mom did. But as the "Chosen One," Emma can't do that.

Maddie, who lost her powers, tries to get them back. Her friends, Sophie and Katie, and Diego, a Churi Kanay (someone with power over elements), try to help her. Diego helps because he likes Maddie. It turns out Maddie's mom, Ursula, got Maddie's powers and is using them to try and make Francisco fall in love with her. Maddie eventually gets her powers back and realizes she likes Diego. They even share a kiss and start dating!

A new student, Jax Novoa, arrives from Sydney, Australia. Emma's dad, Francisco, is now the principal and asks Emma to show Jax around. Emma doesn't know Jax is a wizard at first. Jax has a mysterious past, and while many see his bad side, Emma sees his kind side and starts to like him. The "Fool Moon" causes witches' and wizards' powers to go wild. Desdemona, a Witches' Council member, turns evil and tries to take Emma's powers. Jax and Emma's evil clone, E, also try to take her powers, but E is defeated. By the end of the season, Jax changes for the better, and he, Daniel, and Emma become friends.

Season 3: Summer Fun and New Threats

Summer is ending for the Iridium High students. Emma works as a waitress at the Beachside Seven, a new hangout spot, while Daniel is a lifeguard there. Andi wants to become a guardian for witches. Jax is sent to a special "Rebel Boot Camp" to learn to control his powers. Maddie and Diego try to help witches and Kanays get along, as they used to fight.

A new girl, Mia Black, moves to Miami. She's a Kanay, like Diego, and wants revenge on all witches because Principal Torres killed her parents. Mia plans to hurt Emma and Maddie using the Cristal de Caballero, a special Kanay gem that makes witches' powers go crazy. Mia puts a "spider seal" on Daniel, making him act evil and turn against Emma. Mia and Diego have a Kanay duel, and Diego temporarily falls under Mia's control. Andi's zombie boyfriend, Phillip, also returns. Desdemona and Agamemnon try to take over Emma's powers. Emma tries to turn Phillip into a human using a forbidden spell. Emma and Mia get stuck in a video game and have to work together to escape. In the end, Emma chooses to be with Jax.

Season 4: Big Decisions and Family Secrets

Emma choosing Jax causes Daniel to shift into a different life in the Everglades, and everyone except Emma forgets him. Emma and her friends go to the Everglades to bring Daniel back and help him remember. They have only five days, or he'll disappear forever, and Emma will forget him too. A crossover with Talia in the Kitchen helps Daniel get some memories back, and a kiss from Emma fully restores them. But in the finale, Emma realizes Daniel misses his other life and sends him back to make him happy.

Emma also misses her mom and wants to bring her back. She tries to find a time travel spell and starts taking powers from other witches, like the Council and Maddie. This makes her reckless, and her friends get upset. In the finale, she realizes her mistake, gives back the powers, and decides not to go back in time.

Meanwhile, Jax's dad, Jake, arrives. Jax learns more about his family, meeting his sister, Jessie, who doesn't have powers. Jessie reveals that Jax's mom, Liana, is actually alive! Jax thought his dad was evil, but it turns out Liana is the real bad witch. In the series finale, Jessie finally gets her powers. With her help, Emma, Andi, and Jax defeat Liana, sending her to Limbo, a place where bad witches go.

At the end of the show, Emma and Andi visit Jax's family. Jake says Jessie will go to the WITS Academy to learn to use her new powers. After seeing Daniel one last time, Emma announces that Andi will also go to the WITS Academy to train to become a guardian. Emma gives Andi the Hexoren, and Andi leaves through a portal for the Academy, leading into the Every Witch Way spin-off series.
