Nomadness Travel Tribe
Before starting Nomadness Travel Tribe in September 2011, Evie shared her own travel adventures. She showed her solo trips on Nomadness TV.
Nomadness Travel Tribe is an online group for travelers. It is a special, invitation-only community. The group works to make travel easier for everyone. It especially helps people of color explore the world. This is because they were not always included in the travel industry. Evie was inspired by a book called Tribes. She wanted to create a strong community for travelers.
In 2015, The New York Times reported on the group. It had about 10,000 travelers from 36 countries. Many members were young adults, called millennials. Most of them were African-American women. By early 2017, about 80 percent of the group were women.
Since it began, Nomadness Travel Tribe has planned many trips. They organize at least four trips every year. In December 2016, they went to Panama. After that, Evie decided to focus on "international popup events." These are smaller, fun gatherings around the world. For example, they had an event in Johannesburg in 2017. They also celebrated Holi in India that same year. In 2018, Nomadness started group trips again. Evie created new trip plans based on different emotions.
In 2017, Evie was chosen for the TED Residency program. This program helps people develop new ideas. At the end, she gave a TED Talk. It was the first TED Talk about the Black Travel Movement.
