Exim Banca Românească is a major bank in Romania that offers services to both regular people and large companies. A bank like this, which serves everyone, is called a universal bank. It is located in the capital city of Bucharest.
The bank was started in 1992. For most of its history, it was known as EximBank and mainly worked with businesses. The government of Romania is the main owner of the bank, holding over 95% of its shares through the Ministry of Finance. A few other smaller companies own the rest.
A big change happened in 2019 when EximBank bought another bank called Banca Românească. This purchase allowed EximBank to start offering services to individual customers, like savings accounts and loans. This move made the bank one of the top 10 largest in Romania.
On May 10, 2023, the bank officially changed its name to Exim Banca Românească to show that it was now a universal bank for all customers.

What is the Investment Fund?
In 2019, Exim Banca Românească and a Polish bank created the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund. An investment fund is a large pool of money collected to pay for important projects.
This fund focuses on building and improving three main areas in the member countries:
- Transport: Building better roads, railways, and ports.
- Energy: Creating modern and reliable energy systems.
- Digital: Improving internet access and technology.
The fund aims to raise between 3 and 5 billion euros. This money will be used to support projects that could be worth up to 100 billion euros in total. These projects are very important for helping the region become more connected and successful.
