Eyong Tarkang Enoh (born 23 March 1986) is a former professional footballer from Cameroon. He played as a midfielder.

Eyong Enoh played for many different football clubs in eight countries during his career. These countries included Cyprus, the Netherlands, Belgium, England, Turkey, Cameroon, and South Africa. Some of the well-known clubs he played for were Ajax, Ajax Cape Town, Willem II, and Fulham.

He also played for the Cameroon national team. He took part in the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and 2014. He also played in the African Cup of Nations in 2010 and 2015. His son, Bashan Enoh, is also a footballer and plays in the youth teams of the Ajax Youth Academy.

Club Career

Early Days in Cameroon

Eyong Enoh grew up in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. His football journey started at a local club called Little Foot FC. He played there for five seasons.

In 2003, Enoh joined Mount Cameroon FC. This club was in the top football league in Cameroon. While playing for Little Foot, he was nicknamed "Verón." This was because his playing style was similar to the Argentine midfielder Juan Sebastián Verón. He kept this nickname at his new club. During this time, he also started playing for Cameroon's national youth teams.

Playing in Cyprus

After playing in Cameroon, Enoh moved to Mağusa Türk Gücü S.K., a club in Northern Cyprus. He played in 36 matches for them and scored one goal.

After one season, he moved to Türk Ocağı Limasol, another club in Northern Cyprus. However, this move did not go well. He did not get to play in any matches. After six months, he ended his contract with the club.

South Africa: Ajax Cape Town

In 2006, Enoh signed with Ajax Cape Town in South Africa. He played in the South African Premier Soccer League. In his first season, he played in nine matches. He also helped Ajax Cape Town win the ABSA Cup.

In his second season, Enoh became a very important player for the team. He was made team captain. He also won the Ajax Cape Town Player of the Year award for the 2007–2008 season.

Moving to Europe: AFC Ajax

In 2008, Enoh tried out for several clubs in Europe. He almost signed with Maccabi Haifa from Israel. Harry Redknapp also tried to sign him for Portsmouth in England. But Enoh could not get the necessary work permit in time.

In August 2008, he signed a contract with AFC Ajax in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He was the first player from Cameroon to ever play for Ajax. He quickly became a regular player for the team. He scored his first European goal in a UEFA Cup match in 2009. Fans liked him because he always worked very hard on the field.

He was a regular starter under manager Martin Jol. Later, under manager Frank de Boer, Enoh played less often as a starter.

Loan to Fulham

On 31 January 2013, Enoh joined Premier League team Fulham on a loan deal. He stayed there until the end of the season. At Fulham, he reunited with his former Ajax manager, Martin Jol. He played his first game for Fulham in March 2013.

Return to Ajax and Loan to Antalyaspor

After his loan at Fulham, Enoh returned to Ajax in July 2013. He had lost his starting spot at Ajax. He was also not bought by Fulham. So, Ajax allowed him to look for other clubs. He played some matches for Jong Ajax, which is the reserve team.

In January 2014, Enoh signed with the Turkish club Antalyaspor on a loan. He played the rest of the 2013–14 season there. He made his debut in the Turkish Cup and then in the league.

Playing in Belgium and Netherlands

In August 2014, Enoh moved to Standard Liège, a club in Belgium. He signed a two-year contract. He made his debut for the club in October 2014. However, he was sent off with a red card just 10 minutes into the match. In 2017, he left Standard Liège.

On 31 January 2018, Enoh signed a six-month contract with Willem II in the Netherlands. This brought him back to the Eredivisie league, where he had played for Ajax.

Back to Cyprus

After his time in the Netherlands, Enoh returned to Cyprus. He signed with Enosis Neon Paralimni FC, a newly promoted team in the top Cypriot football league.

On 13 June 2019, he joined Olympiakos Nicosia, another newly promoted club in the Cypriot First Division, for six months.

Amateur Football

After his professional career, Eyong Enoh played one season for the Ajax Amateurs team. This team plays in the fourth tier of Dutch football.

International Career

Playing for Cameroon

Eyong Enoh played his first game for the Cameroon national team on 7 June 2009. It was a World Cup qualifying match against Morocco, which ended in a 0–0 draw.

He was chosen to play in the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola. Cameroon reached the quarter-finals of this tournament. He also played in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Cameroon was in a tough group and was eliminated in the group stage.

In August 2010, Enoh was named the vice-captain of the Cameroon national team. He helped Cameroon qualify for their seventh FIFA World Cup in 2014, which was held in Brazil. He played a very important role in the team's midfield during the qualifying games.

Personal Life

Eyong Enoh is a Christian. He has spoken about his faith, saying that God gave him the talent to play football. He believes football is a great way to share his faith with people who look up to him.
