The Falklands War
During the Falklands War in 1982, the Argentina Air Force used the Pucará planes. They flew missions to attack targets around Port Stanley and tried to stop the British Army and the Royal Navy.
However, some Pucarás were shot down by Sea Harrier jets and British commandos. This war showed how important air power is in conflicts.
Sri Lanka's Use of the Pucará
Later, Sri Lanka also used the Pucará aircraft. They used it during their civil conflict against a group called the Tamil Tigers. The Pucará helped with ground attacks in that region.
Who Used the Pucará?
Several countries have used the FMA IA-58 Pucará aircraft. These include Argentina, Colombia, Sri Lanka, and Uruguay.
In 2013, some Pucarás were still active in Argentina's Air Force. The United Kingdom also had one Pucará aircraft. It was captured by British commandos during the Falklands War and later used for testing and trials.
