Fábio José dos Santos (born on June 26, 1973), known as Fabinho Santos, is a Brazilian football coach and former player. He used to play as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defense. Today, he is the head coach for the under-20 team at Futebol com Vida .

Fabinho Santos: A Football Journey
Fabinho Santos has had an exciting career in football. He played for many different clubs in Brazil, Switzerland, and Japan. After he stopped playing, he became a coach, helping young players learn the game.
Early Career in Brazil
Fabinho was born in Telha, a city in Sergipe, Brazil. He started his professional football journey playing for several big clubs in Brazil. These included Vitória, Joinville, and Coritiba. He played in Brazil's top league, the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Playing in Europe: His Time at FC Basel
In 1998, Fabinho moved to Europe to play for the Swiss club Basel. This was a big step in his career. He joined the team during their winter break in the 1997–98 season.
He played his first league game for Basel on August 15, 1998. Basel won that game 2–0 against Xamax. Fabinho even scored his first goal for the club in March 1999.
Fabinho played a total of 30 games for Basel, scoring 9 goals. Sixteen of these games were in the main Swiss league, and the rest were friendly matches. He even scored four goals in one friendly game in Martinique! However, his time at Basel ended in 1999.
Adventures in Japan's J.League
After playing in Switzerland, Fabinho moved to Japan. He played for three different teams in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league. These teams were Oita Trinita, Albirex Niigata, and Vegalta Sendai.
He played many games in Japan, showing his skills as a midfielder. For example, he played 33 games for Oita Trinita in 2002, scoring 7 goals. He spent the longest time at Albirex Niigata, playing over 100 games and scoring 30 goals between 2003 and 2006.
Fabinho's Coaching Path
After his playing career, Fabinho Santos decided to become a coach. He has coached at different levels, mostly for Joinville. He started by coaching their under-17 team. He also took on the role of interim (temporary) coach for the main Joinville team a few times.
He even worked as an assistant coach for Paraná in 2018. Currently, he is the head coach for the under-20 team at Futebol com Vida . This shows he is still very involved in football, helping young players develop their talents.
What Fabinho Won
Fabinho Santos won several important titles during his playing career:
- With Vitória: He won the Campeonato Baiano three times in 1992, 1995, and 1996.
- With Joinville: He won the Campeonato Catarinense once in 2000.
- With Oita Trinita: He helped his team win the J. League Division 2 in 2002.
