Fagersta Municipality (Fagersta kommun) is a local government area in central Sweden. It is part of Västmanland County. The main town and administrative center of this municipality is Fagersta.

History of Fagersta Municipality
The area known as the "City of Fagersta" was officially created in 1944. Later, in 1967, it joined with a nearby area called Västervåla parish. This parish had been part of Surahammar Municipality since 1963. In 1971, Fagersta became a single, unified municipality, much like it is today.
Towns and Villages
The biggest town in Fagersta Municipality is Fagersta, which is also its main seat. It's the only place in the municipality with more than 200 people living there.
Another interesting village is Ängelsberg. It's located right by Åmänningen Lake.

One of the most famous places in Fagersta Municipality is Engelsberg Ironworks. It's located in the village of Ängelsberg. This historic ironworks is so important that it has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means it's a place of special cultural or physical importance to the world.
