Fahrudin Jusufi (Serbian Cyrillic: Фахрудин Јусуфи; 8 December 1939 – 9 August 2019) was a famous football player from Yugoslavia. He was known for playing as a full-back, which is a defensive position in football. Jusufi played for important clubs like Partizan and Eintracht Frankfurt. He also represented his country, Yugoslavia, in many international matches.

Fahrudin Jusufi was a talented football player. He started his career in Yugoslavia and later played in Germany. He was part of some very successful teams.

Club Football Journey

Jusufi was born in a village called Zli Potok in what was then the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He began his football journey with FK Partizan, a big club in Yugoslavia. He played there for many years, from 1957 to 1966.

One of his biggest achievements with Partizan was reaching the final of the 1966 European Cup Final in 1966. This was a huge European club competition. His team played against the famous Real Madrid but unfortunately lost. After Partizan, he moved to Germany to play for Eintracht Frankfurt from 1966 to 1970. He also played for Germania Wiesbaden and FC Dornbirn before he stopped playing in 1972.

Playing for His Country

Fahrudin Jusufi was also a key player for the Yugoslav national team. He played in 55 matches for his country. He took part in the 1962 FIFA World Cup, which is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world.

He also played in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. This was a very special moment for him and his team. They won the gold medal, which is the highest honor in the Olympics.

Coaching Career

After he stopped playing football, Jusufi decided to become a coach. He mainly coached teams in Germany.

He coached SG Wattenscheid 09 in the second division of German football. He also had a chance to coach his former club, Partizan, in the 1987–88 season. Other clubs he coached include Schalke 04, 1860 Munich, and Čelik Zenica.

Personal Life and Legacy

Fahrudin Jusufi was a private person. He was part of the Gorani people, an ethnic group from the Balkans.

His son, Sascha Jusufi, also became a professional football player, following in his father's footsteps. Fahrudin Jusufi passed away on August 9, 2019, in Hamburg, Germany, at the age of 79. He is remembered as a great defender and a respected figure in football.
