Falun Municipality (which is Falu kommun in Swedish) is a local area in central Sweden. It's located in Dalarna County. The main town and administrative center of the municipality is Falun.
Falun is the second largest city in Dalarna County. It was once very famous for its copper mine. This mine was a huge part of the area's history.
The municipality as we know it today was created in 1971. This happened when the city of Falun joined together with six smaller towns and rural areas nearby.
