Falyn Talei Fonoimoana (born March 13, 1992) is an American professional volleyball player. She plays both indoor and beach volleyball. Falyn is known for her powerful hitting as an opposite hitter. She has played for Athletes Unlimited, a professional indoor league. Falyn also proudly represented the United States National Team. With the national team, she earned a gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games.
About Falyn Fonoimoana
Falyn Talei Fonoimoana was born and grew up in Hermosa Beach, California. She has a diverse family background. Her family includes African American, English, Irish, Austrian, German, Hawaiian, Tahitian, and Samoan roots.
A Family of Athletes
Falyn comes from a very athletic family. Her uncle, Eric Fonoimoana, won a gold medal in beach volleyball at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Falyn became interested in volleyball at a young age because of him. She used to be a ball girl for her uncle's games.
Her mother, Debbie, also played beach volleyball. Falyn's aunt, Lelei Fonoimoana, was a swimmer. Lelei competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, when she was 17 years old.
High School Years
Falyn attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, California. She was considered one of the best high school volleyball players ever. She was a top-ranked recruit in her graduating class.
Falyn has a son who was born in August 2012.
Falyn's Volleyball Career
Falyn Fonoimoana has had an exciting career in volleyball. She has played at the college level and professionally. She has also represented the United States in international competitions.
College Volleyball
Falyn started her college career in 2010 at the Southern California. In her first year, she was the second-best player on her team for "kills." Kills are when a player hits the ball so well that the other team cannot return it. She was named the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year. She also earned the AVCA Pacific Region Freshman of the Year award.
However, her college career ended early in 2011. Southern California announced she could no longer play. The reason for this was not made public. She did not return to play college volleyball after that.

Criollas de Caguas
Falyn stopped playing indoor volleyball in 2016. However, she decided to return to the sport in 2022. She joined Athletes Unlimited, an American professional league.
Playing for Athletes Unlimited
During her season with Athletes Unlimited, Falyn showed her amazing skills. Her teammates and opponents voted her as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in one match. In that game, she had 15 kills, which was the highest on her team. She also had seven "digs," which are plays where a player saves a difficult attack.
She had five games where she made 10 or more kills. By the end of the season, she ranked 19th out of 44 players. She earned 2,209 total ranking points. On average, she made 2.86 kills per set. She also had 103 digs and 9 solo blocks.
USA National Team (Indoor)
Falyn was chosen to play for the United States at the 2015 Pan American Games. The U.S. team won the gold medal. They defeated Brazil in the final match.

Beach Volleyball Achievements
Falyn started playing on the AVP Tour in 2018. This is a professional beach volleyball tour. She has competed in several tournaments. In 2019, she finished 4th at the AVP Austin tournament with her partner Nicolette Martin. In August 2021, Falyn and her partner Geena Urango placed 13th at the Women's AVP $100,000 Gold Series Atlanta Open.
USA National Team (Beach)
Falyn has also represented the United States in beach volleyball. She has won several medals in the NORCECA Beach Tours. She earned three gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal.
