Farhaan Behardien, born on October 9, 1983, is a former international cricketer from South Africa. He played in two main types of international cricket matches: One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). In January 2017, he was chosen to be the captain of the T20I team for a series against Sri Lanka.

Early Cricket Days

Farhaan Behardien started his professional cricket journey in the 2004–05 season. He played for a team called Nashua Titans. He is known as a strong right-handed batsman who hits the ball well. He was also a helpful bowler and a very good fielder.

Playing in Australia and Hong Kong

In July 2009, Farhaan traveled to Australia with a special South African team for young, talented players. He also played for South Africa in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament in 2009. In that tournament, he hit a six on the very last ball to win the final match against Hong Kong!

Coaching and Awards

During the first half of the 2009 season, Behardien played for a team called Bovey Tracey in England. He also helped coach their under-13 team, sharing his cricket knowledge with younger players. In May 2017, he was recognized for his great performance and was named the T20 Challenge Player of the Season at the annual Cricket South Africa awards.

Club Teams and Milestones

Farhaan Behardien played for several different club teams throughout his career. In June 2018, he was part of the Titans team for the 2018–19 season. That same year, he scored his 6,000th run in first-class cricket while playing for the Titans. He also played for teams like Cape Town Blitz and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament. Later, in April 2021, he joined the Free State team.

International Matches

Farhaan Behardien made his first international appearance for South Africa in a T20I match against India in early 2012. He scored 20 runs very quickly in that game. His good performance helped him earn a spot in the South African team for the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 tournament. He also played for the South African ODI team in 2014, where he made an important score of 65 runs without being out.

Retirement from Cricket

In December 2022, Farhaan Behardien announced that he was retiring from international cricket. He shared his decision with his fans on Twitter.
