Faunsdale is a small town in Marengo County, Alabama, in the United States. In 2020, about 90 people lived there. Faunsdale is special because it's home to a group of Holdeman Mennonites. They have the only Holdeman Mennonite Church in this area, called Cedarcrest Mennonite Church.

The Story of Faunsdale
How Faunsdale Got Its Name
A post office opened in Faunsdale way back in 1841. The town was named after a nearby large farm called Faunsdale Plantation. This plantation was named after a Roman god. In 1843, Dr. Thomas Alexander Harrison owned the plantation, and the town was named in his honor.

The Faunsdale Plantation started in the 1830s. It was founded by people like Henry Augustine Tayloe. He helped his older brothers invest in several large farms in this area. These brothers were known as important cotton planters in the region. Faunsdale officially became a town in 1907.
