History of Federalsburg

Federalsburg got its name in an interesting way. Some people believe it was named after the Federalist Party. This political group held a meeting in the town back in 1812.

Another idea is that the town was settled by people from northern states. These settlers were often called "Federals." The town officially became a recognized town in 1823.
