Meet Taelor Deitcher, better known as Felix Cartal! He is a Canadian DJ and music producer. He makes electronic dance music, often called EDM.
Felix released his first music collection, called an EP (which is like a mini-album), in 2009. It was named Skeleton. Since then, he has released four full-length albums. These include Popular Music (2010), Different Faces (2012), Next Season (2018), and Expensive Sounds for Nice People (2021). Felix has also toured with other famous artists like Wolfgang Gartner and MSTRKRFT. He is known for working with different singers on his dance tracks.

Felix Cartal's Early Life
In 2000, Felix Cartal went to New Westminster Secondary School in New Westminster, British Columbia. He started playing bass guitar in a punk rock band called Dysfunctional. They were inspired by bands like Refused and Anti-Flag. The band played shows and gained a small group of fans.
Later, the band changed its style to a more progressive sound. They renamed themselves Orange Orange. This group broke up in 2006. After that, Felix started trying out music production software. He was inspired by local DJs and club nights. He noticed that the punk and EDM music scenes had some things in common. This made him want to get involved in electronic dance music.
Felix also studied English at the University of British Columbia. He spent a semester studying in Scotland at the University of Glasgow.
Felix Cartal's Music Career
Starting Out: Skeleton and Popular Music
In December 2006, Felix Cartal started getting noticed online. He released original songs like Moss vs. Tree. While he was in the UK, Felix signed with a booking agent. This helped him start playing shows across Britain and Europe. His third ever show was opening for the band Justice. He played for an audience of over 4,000 people!
When he returned home, he was already a known underground artist. He opened for MSTRKRFT on their tour. Felix released several remixes before signing with Steve Aoki's Dim Mak Records. He then released his first EP, Skeleton, in May 2009.
Four months later, Felix released Drone. This was the first song from his first full album, Popular Music.
Popular Music came out on February 23, 2010. Besides Drone, the album also had songs like Volcano and World Class Driver. Music videos were made for these songs. Felix went on tours and performed at big music festivals. These included Electric Daisy Carnival and South by Southwest.
New Sounds: Different Faces
In March 2011, Felix Cartal released a song called The Joker. This song became one of his most famous works. Many well-known DJs played it in their live shows. After touring a lot, Felix started working on his second album. He wanted to include more guest singers and catchy tunes.
His second album, Different Faces, was released on March 27, 2012. It featured songs like Don't Turn on the Lights and Black to White. The album was very popular. It reached the top 10 on the iTunes Electronic chart in North America.
Felix also started a weekly podcast called The Weekend Workout. In this podcast, he shared new electronic dance music. He even included some of his own unreleased songs. This mix was broadcast worldwide on SiriusXM.
In August 2012, Felix released the last song from Different Faces. It was called Tonight and featured Maja Ivarsson.
Touring and New EPs: Past Present Felix
Felix Cartal continued to tour a lot in North America and Europe. He also created remixes for artists like Zedd. In January 2013, he released a song called The Alarm with Autoerotique.
He also worked with Clockwork on a song called The Fire. In July 2013, Felix released Young Love. This was the first song from his four-track EP, Past Present Felix. The music video for Young Love came out later that month. Past Present Felix was released on August 6, 2013.
Felix announced a 16-show tour across North America to support his new EP. In December 2013, he released New Scene as the final song from Past Present Felix. After a successful tour, Felix released another three-song EP called Credits in April 2014. It featured the song Ready for Love.
New Directions: Remixes and Collaborations
In 2015, Felix Cartal signed with Universal Canada. He released two new songs: With You and Something To Live For. In early 2016, he showed off a new sound. He made remixes for artists like Kiiara and Selena Gomez. He then worked with Kaskade on a song called Fakin It. He also released three original songs: Keep Up, Drifting Away, and Falling Down.
In March 2017, he released Get What You Give. This was a remix cover of a famous song. It became his first certified Gold Record, meaning it sold a lot of copies! He then released Hold Tight in September 2017. Later, he worked with R3hab on a song called Killing Time.
Next Season Album
In May 2018, Felix released his third studio album, Next Season. It was released by a Canadian record label called Physical Presents. The album included songs like Runaway and Walking By. Next Season received good reviews from music critics.
Many people helped write songs for the album. Felix shared that he found inspiration from many different places. These included books, other musicians, and even internet videos.
Expensive Sounds for Nice People Album
In June 2021, Felix Cartal released his fourth studio album. It was called Expensive Sounds for Nice People. This album was also released by Physical Presents. It features many popular songs. These include Love Me with Lights, Over It with Veronica, and Mine with Sophie Simmons. Other songs like Happy Hour with Kiiara and Only One are also on the album.
