Field hockey was a big part of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. These exciting tournaments happened from July 27 to August 9. The games took place at Stade Yves-du-Manoir. This stadium is special because it was also used for the 1924 Summer Olympics! A total of twenty-four teams competed. There were twelve teams for men and twelve for women. They all played hard to win Olympic medals.

How Teams Qualified

To play in the Olympics, teams had to qualify. The rules for qualifying were set by the International Olympic Committee and the International Hockey Federation (FIH). These rules were announced on March 30, 2022.

Each continent had a special tournament. The winning team from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania got a spot. This was for both men's and women's teams. France, as the host country, also got a direct spot. This was because their teams were ranked high enough in the world.

Other teams could qualify through special tournaments. The top three teams from two different FIH Olympic qualifying events earned their places. This filled up the twelve spots for each tournament.
