How Teams Qualified
Eight men's and eight women's teams got to play in the tournament. Chile, as the host country, automatically qualified for both tournaments.
Other teams qualified by doing well in other big sports events:
- The top two teams from the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.
- The top two teams from the 2022 South American Games.
- The top three teams from the 2022 Men's and Women's Pan American Cup who hadn't already qualified.
If Canada or the United States still hadn't qualified, they would have played a special playoff game. But if they both qualified, that playoff wasn't needed.
