Figueirense Futebol Clube, often called Figueirense, is a professional football club from Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil. It was started on June 12, 1921. The team plays in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, which is the third level of Brazilian football. They also compete in the Campeonato Catarinense, the top football league in the Santa Catarina state.

Club History: From Founding to Today

Figueirense Football Club began on June 12, 1921. The club got its name, Figueirense, from the neighborhood where it was founded, called Centro. "Figueirense" means "from Figueira," which refers to a fig tree.

Early Years and First Wins

Figueirense was one of the clubs that helped start the Liga Catharinense de Desportos Terrestres on April 12, 1923. In 1932, the team won its very first state championship. They had a "Golden Decade" from 1935 to 1937, winning the Catarinense championship three times in a row. They won it again in 1939.

Returning to Glory: 1970s and 1990s

After a long time without winning a state title, Figueirense finally won the state championship again in 1972. In 1973, Figueirense made history by becoming the first team from Santa Catarina state to play in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, Brazil's top league. They won the Catarinense championship once more in 1974.

In 1994, after 17 years, the club won another state championship. In 1995, Figueirense won the Torneio Mercosul in Santa Catarina. This was the club's first and only international title.

New Millennium Successes

In 2001, Figueirense was the runner-up in the Campeonato Brasileiro Second Division. This success meant they were promoted to the First Division for the next year. From 2002 to 2004, Figueirense won the Campeonato Catarinense three times in a row!

In 2008, the club's youth team won the Copa São Paulo de Juniores for the first time. They beat Rio Branco-SP 2–0 in the final match. However, in the 2008 Serie A season, Figueirense finished 17th and was moved down to Serie B the next year.

From 2002 to 2004, a company called CSR Esporte & Marketing, owned by famous players Rivaldo and César Sampaio, partnered with Figueirense. They helped manage the club's professional football team during that time.
