The First Broad River is a cool river in western North Carolina, United States. It's about 60 miles (95 km) long. It's a tributary, which means it's a smaller river that flows into a bigger one. The First Broad River flows into the Broad River.
Together with the Broad River and the Congaree River, the First Broad River is part of a huge watershed. A watershed is like a giant bowl where all the rain and water collect and flow into a main river. All this water eventually reaches the Santee River, which then flows all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.
Where the First Broad River Begins and Flows
The First Broad River starts high up on South Mountain. This is in the northeastern part of Rutherford County. From there, it begins its journey.
The River's Path
At first, the river flows towards the southeast. It enters Cleveland County. It passes by the town of Lawndale. After Lawndale, the river changes direction. It turns and flows southward.
The river then passes to the west of Shelby. Finally, in the southern part of Cleveland County, the First Broad River meets the Broad River. It joins the Broad River from the north.
