First Mesa (in the Hopi language: Wàlpi) is a special area in Navajo County, Arizona, United States. It is part of the Hopi Reservation. This area is called a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's a community that the government counts for population data.
First Mesa is home to three Hopi villages located on top of a large, flat-topped hill called a mesa. These villages are Hano (also known as Tegua), Sitsomovi (or Sichomovi), and Waalpi (or Walpi). The mesa is about 5,700 feet (1,740 meters) high. In 2010, about 1,555 people lived in First Mesa.

History of First Mesa
Near the village of Walpi, there is an old, abandoned village called Sikyátki. According to stories passed down through generations, the people of Walpi were responsible for its destruction a long time ago.
