Firstview is a small place in Cheyenne County, Colorado. It's called an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government. Instead, it's managed by the county.
Firstview is located right along U.S. Highway 40. The closest city to Firstview is Cheyenne Wells.
Here's a cool fact about Firstview's location: If you could dig a straight tunnel right through the Earth from Firstview, you would come out near a tiny French island called Île Saint-Paul! This island is in the Indian Ocean. It's one of only three land areas that are directly opposite a spot in the main part of the United States.
What's the Story of Firstview?
Firstview was officially started in the year 1911. It was named for a very special reason.
Imagine people traveling a long time ago, heading west. Firstview was the very first spot where they could see the famous Pikes Peak. Pikes Peak is a huge mountain about 135 miles (which is about 217 kilometers) away from Firstview. It must have been an amazing sight to see such a big mountain from so far away!
