Feyruz Rajab oghlu Mustafayev (born October 18, 1933 – died July 7, 2018) was an important leader in Azerbaijan. He served as the Acting Prime Minister of Azerbaijan for a short time in 1992. Before that, he was the First Deputy Prime Minister. He also led several state companies, like the State Grain Products Company.
Early Life and Career
Feyruz Mustafayev was born on October 18, 1933. His birthplace was Merzili village in the Agdam District of Azerbaijan. After finishing a seven-year school in Merzili, he went to a secondary school in Novruzlu village.
After serving in the military, Feyruz Mustafayev started his career in 1955. He worked as a regular worker on a collective farm in Samukh District. A collective farm is like a large farm where many people work together. He later became an accountant and then the chairman of the farm. While working, he also studied economics through a special program from Moscow.
Rise in Leadership
Feyruz Mustafayev achieved great success at the collective farm. Because of his good work, he was chosen to lead the Executive Committee in Khanlar District. This was an important local government role. Just one year later, he became the first secretary of the Khanlar District Party Committee. This meant he was a top leader in the local political party. Later, he was also appointed to a similar role in the Shamakhi District.
In 1981, Feyruz Mustafayev received two very high awards. These were the Order of Lenin and the Hero of Socialist Labour. He earned these for his hard work in the Shamakhi District. He helped build many important things, like 600 kilometers of water lines. These awards were given by top leaders, including Heydar Aliyev from Azerbaijan and Leonid Brezhnev from the Soviet Union.
Political Roles
In 1975, while he was a party leader in Khanlar District, Feyruz Mustafayev was elected as a deputy. A deputy is like a representative in a parliament. He served in the IX convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR. He represented the Gizilja area and was part of the Culture Commission.
Later, in 1987, he took on more important roles. He became the Deputy Chairman of the Agrarian Industry Committee. This committee dealt with farming and food production. He then became the Chairman of the Refugee Committee, helping people who had to leave their homes. He also led the State Grain Company, which managed grain products for the country.
Feyruz Mustafayev then became the Deputy Prime Minister. This was a very high position in the government. After that, he served as the Acting Prime Minister of Azerbaijan for a short period.
Later Life
Feyruz Mustafayev passed away on July 7, 2018, in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan.
